If you're thinking about travelling to the Gold Coast to cheer on the Aussies next April, now's the time to start getting organised.
Ticket requests for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, to be held on the Gold Coast, are now live.
In an effort to make the ticket allocation process fair, organisers are allowing members of the public to request tickets online until May 22. After tickets have been allocated, it'll be a case of first come, first served to secure any remaining tickets.
Adult tickets cost from $20, with slots for the opening ceremony from $100.
To mark the opening of ticket requests, the Mantra Group is offering 10 per cent off a selection of Gold Coast accommodation during the games period.
Options include the BreakFree Longbeach in Surfers Paradise, which costs from $305 per night during the games in an one-bedroom apartment including parking (use code BFGAMES for 10 per cent off) and the Mantra Sun City, which costs from $340 per night with breakfast (promo code MANGAMES10 to get the discount).
Other possibilities include the luxurious Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise, Mantra Broadbeach on the Park, Peppers Broadbeach, Mantra Wings in Surfers Paradise and the BreakFree Acapulco. The deals are valid for stays of at least three nights from March 29 to April 17, 2018.
Billed as Australia's largest sporting event this decade, the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games are expected to attract more than 6600 athletes and team officials from 70 nations and territories to compete in 18 spots and seven para-sports over 11 days from April 4, 2018.
