The new 90-minute Queen Vic Market Ultimate Foodie Tour includes the chance to learn about the history of the market, which dates back to 1878 and lays claim to being the biggest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere.
Departing at 9am and 11am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the tour includes tastings of whatever's fresh on the day, and ends with coffee and a jam doughnut.
The $69 ticket price also includes a Queen Victoria Market Shopping bag and a $5 market voucher.
The Queen Vic is the last surviving 19th-century market in Melbourne's CBD. The Praharn and South Melbourne markets in the inner suburbs also date from the Victorian era (and are well worth checking out the next time you're in town).
