It might not be justifiable to say that Delhi, Agra and Jaipur can in any way become a showpiece of what India has. This combination of three enchanting destinations displays the richness of India’s history, heritage and culture very beautifully.
We start in Delhi, India’s Capital, offering a panoramic vista of heritage and modern India. Your city tour will take you to famous landmarks, you’ll take a crazy Rickshaw ride through Delhi’s Chandni Chowk (local markets), and enjoy Mughlai food, known for its richness and exotic use of spices.
We visit Lucknow, the City of Nawabs, an intriguing blend of old world charm, warm hospitality, courteous people, beautiful architecture and rich heritage – and delicious food!
You’ll travel to Agra to see the monument of love, the Taj Mahal, before travelling to Ranthambore. Take daily game drives through the deciduous forests of Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary, to search for the Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, sloth bear, wild boar, macaque, and more.
Then on to Jaipur, the Pink City of Rajasthan and a treasure trove of culture, art and history, and famous for its colour, lifestyle and traditional cuisine. Take in the majestic palace complex, Amber Fort, and the breathtaking Palace of the Wind, explore the markets and bazaars through colourful and chaotic streets shopping for souvenirs, silver jewellery, and precious and semi-precious stones. Visit a family home, participate in cooking lessons, and enjoy a home cooked meal.
Our exclusive tour will introduce you to five different types of India’s cuisine, travelling with an experienced Australian Tour Escort, together with the best and most knowledgeable local Tour Guides.
Why not extend your stay in India and take our optional 7 night Ganges River cruise onboard the ABN Rajmahal. This small boutique ship was built in 2014 and her extra-shallow draught and lower profile allows her to cruise further upstream than any of her competitors.
ABN Rajmahal has just 22 cabins. The décor is stylish and fresh with touches of colonial elegance. All cabins have French balconies, and the ship has a comfortable saloon and bar, dining room, and a vast canopied sundeck. There is a small Spa onboard offering a range of treatments.
Our cruise will take you along the intimate lower Ganges sidestream, the River Hooghly, which flows from Farakka on the main river down to Kolkata. As well as sightseeing of Kolkata itself and the European colonies just outside, the cruise takes in Murshidabad, capital of the Nawabs of Bengal, the battlefield of Plassey close by, and the many monuments of the medieval Islamic capital of Gaur. A highlight are several delightful and little known Bengali Terracotta temples. Lower Ganges cruises are all about visits to villages, towns, temples and monuments in a little-known but fascinating and culturally rich part of India.
“We thoroughly enjoyed our Indian adventure and would love to have you join us on this exclusive tour to share all the sights and delicious cuisine of this fantastic country.”
